Vision, Mission, and Objectives:
Our vision is to pioneer transformative teaching, research, and outreach on life's intricate patterns and processes, with a focus on plants and their ecosystems, determined to explore and cherish the plant world without exploitation. On that background, the department course modules have been designed to fulfil the following aims:
- Offer a student-centered and profession-oriented higher education that creates a rich academic atmosphere
- Cultivate an environment of excellence by promoting creative and intellectual inquiry, fostering positive relationships among students, faculty, and staff to enhance the overall learning experience
- Focus on the patterns and processes enabling a predictive understanding of plants and their environments at local, regional, and global scales
- Foster strengths in plant science with interdisciplinary subjects like microbiology, ecology, genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, and bioinformatics
- Provide the students a platform which will make them competent for qualifying comitative exams of National and International level for higher educations (like UGC-CSIR NET, GATE, IELTS, CAT, MAT etc.) and jobs in Govt. and private sectors.
- Promote capacity building of the students to convert an idea into a successful business model by developing entrepreneurship with the knowledge of botany

The Scope of Botany: Botany is now an interdisciplinary field of research integrating plant science, engineering, chemistry, computer science, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, physics, and mathematics to develop omics tools (proteomics, genomics, transcriptomics) in a predictable and programmable manner. This modern approach is improving the quality of traditional medicinal plants; improving crop nutrition quality, single gene analysis, sequence similarity, modelling of protein, crop breeding and insect resistance; improving nutritional quality; and development of drought-resistant varieties.
On the basis of that background, the major objectives of the present course have been selected.
- Education: Provide comprehensive botanical knowledge and skills.
- Self-Reliance: Foster independence and problem-solving abilities.
- Comprehension: Enhance understanding of botany and interdisciplinary subjects.
- Pride: Instill a sense of achievement and pride in their work.
- Happiness: Promote a positive and fulfilling learning experience.
- Conservation: Hands on training on ex-situ conservation of medicinal plants.
- Confidence: Build confidence in students' abilities and knowledge.
- Employment: Prepare students for careers in botany and related fields.
- Entrepreneurship: Promote students to convert an idea into a business model
